2015 Audi A3 and S3 Sedan: Small Car with Huge Promise

Since the start of 2013, American Audi enthusiasts have been receiving an array of new vehicles. A 354-horsepower Audi SQ5 and the Audi RS7 Sportback delivering a mammoth 560 horsepower have stood out on the 2013 auto show circuit. Arrival of the Audi Q3 in North America is imminent as is a refreshed version of the A3 Sportback. Though the Audi A3 Sportback serves comfortably as a premium, athletic urban vehicle since 2006, the United States luxury car marketplace changed a lot over this time. Compact luxury cars, once existed as a niche segment, is now a major part a premium brand’s line-up. Of late, vehicles such as the Cadillac ATS, Acura ILX and the Mercedes-Benz CLA elevated the refinement bar in the compact premium vehicle category. Audi has chosen the 2014 model year is the ideal time to bring the A3 sedan to North America. Headlining Audi’s presentation at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, the Audi A3 Sedan and the S3 Sedan aims to heighten the expectations that premium vehicle drivers can expect from smaller vehicles. Assembled in a four-door notchback body style, the Audi A3 Sedan rests within a 175.5-inch bumper-to-bumper length. The 2015 Audi A3 sedan is 6.5 inches longer than the outgoing Audi A3 Sportback. Despite the sizeable lengthening, the 2015 A3 sedan is still well-placed as a compact car. In fact,...

Audi R8 e-tron to be Tony Stark’s Iron Man 3 Ride

[ad#banner]   For a company associated heavily with aluminum construction, why does Audi involve themselves with iron? Part of the first two Iron Man films adapted from the Marvel comic book franchise, the premium car company happily lent its trendy products. Making several cameo appearances, Audi vehicles contributed to the style of the movies (note Iron Man’s eyes when looking at the headlamps of an Audi car). Robert Downey Jr’s character Tony Stark drove a coupe as well as the Spyder variant of the Audi R8 in Iron Man and Iron Man 2. The Audi A8 sedan and Q7 crossover also received screen time during the action-adventure series. The third movie in the current blockbuster Iron Man series will again have Audi products on display. Serving as the all-wheel drive chariot for high-energy, fictional billionaire Tony Stark will be a white Audi R8 e-tron supercar. In addition, Stark‘s girlfriend Virginia “Pepper” Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) is receiving her own set of Audi quattro wheels. Potts will be seen driving an Audi S7 Sportback in the 2013 film. First applied to the Audi R8 in 2010, the e-tron powerplant layout pitched the company’s first experiment in production-oriented electric car. Premiering in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the R8 e-tron was a 313-horsepower concept was heavily Audi. Audi Enlists RS 5 Nameplate for 2013 DTM Car

Last year, the DTM Series premiered a trio of new vehicles constructed to a brand-new set of specifications. Designed to create better, more affordable competition in the popular German-based motorsport championship, the 2012 christening of the BMW M3, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and the Audi A5 DTM car was a mission accomplished with five drivers winning events during the 10-race regular series. The Audi A5 captured two of those wins in the 2012 DTM Series; both with Italian driver Edoardo Mortara at the wheel. Mortara victories were the only Audi triumphs at the end of race weekends in the 2012 DTM Series. Compared to the 2011 season where Audi vehicles claimed a driver’s and team championship, 2012 was probably not the year the German premium car brand was bracing for with the Audi A5 DTM. When it comes to current motorsport history, Audi’s attention on the top spot has propelled the Le Mans prototype sports car program and most recently the Audi R8 Grand Am to success after relatively short struggles. Though the technical rules of DTM are frozen (preventing any mechanical or electronic enhancements to the Audi racecar carried over from 2012), the automaker believes a simple change in the vehicle’s personality for 2013 could be the kick-start to a more successful DTM season. Instead of representing the A5 coupe nameplate, Audi has chosen to brand the 2013 DTM...
