Audi A5 Cabriolet Spotted in Florida

An AudiWorld forum member recently spotted this in Florida, between Tampa and Sarasota. As you can see, this soon-to-be-released A5 Cabriolet test mule is sporting a 2.0-turbo four cylinder engine instead of the current 3.2-liter V6. The AudiWorld member said the “hot chick” driver of the A5 Cabriolet confirmed that there is an Audi test facility nearby, and that the car was an automatic. Check out more pictures below:...

Audi Centennial Timepiece

Audi just unveiled their Centennial Timepiece, which celebrates 100 years for the company. A very nice wristwatch, bearing the four rings logo on the face, was inspired by Auto Union racing cars. The watch – called the Tachoscope – combines a regulator dial, a chronograph with a stopwatch operated by a single button, and a tachometer dial. Only the minute-hand is placed in the center of the dial, as the hour and second hands are off-set on the other dials. The Tachoscope’s tachometer function is especially unique, displaying velocity in kilometers or miles per hour. Only 100 Tachoscopes will be made, 35 of which will be made from platinum, and 65 in white gold. Of course they’re ridiculously priced at € 24.900 (about $33,730 USD) for the platinum model and € 14.900 ($20,180) for white gold. Or you can buy a brand new Audi A4 for the price of a platinum watch. More pictures...

Other cars on display will include the 1919 Audi Type C “Alpine Champion,” a 2006 Audi R10 TDI (which won the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2008,) a 1965 Audi 72, a third-generation Audi 100, the Audi quattro Spyder Concept (seen below,) and an Audi Sport quattro S1 “Pikes Peak.” Each of these seven cars were chosen because they represent a historic milestone in Audi history, and in total cover nine decades. Truth in 24 Now Available in iTunes

Due to popular demand, Audi has released Truth in 24, the racing documentary about the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The film is now available on iTunes for free to download to your computer, iPod, or iPhone, and will be available in high definition next week. Truth in 24 provides an unprecedented behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Audi Sport auto racing dynasty pushing to maintain its dominance at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in France against a powerful new rival. Although Audi had claimed seven of the previous eight Le Mans competitions, its chances entering the 2008 race were far from certain. I haven’t personally seen the film yet, because frankly I can’t stand using iTunes on my PC, and for some reason the iTunes app on my iPhone can’t find the video. Once it becomes available though, you better bet I’ll download and watch it. It’s gotten some great reviews from users, and won awards at international film festivals in Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, Florida. Check out a 30-second trailer below, then download Truth in 24 at iTunes via...

Audi is Now the Official Luxury Vehicle of the New York Yankees

Audi just announced their partnership with the New York Yankees as their official luxury vehicle. This will entail an Audi Yankees Club – a new viewing location and restaurant in the left field of the Yankees Stadium. Audi’s VIP guests to Yankees games will enjoy seeing the Audi logo displayed on the glass entrance door, televisions, napkins, brochures, and just about everything else in the area. The sponsorship begins with the opening of the Yankees Stadium and ends after the 2011 season, unless they renew. So as a fan, what can you expect to change? Nothing really. Just expect to see an Audi logo somewhere around the left field now, and perhaps the occasional Audi vehicle on display outside the...

Cool New Audi Q5 Commercial

Audi released this cool new commercial for the Q5, depicting a human crowd creating the vehicle in a wave. Then it goes on to show the same wave making some of the engine run. The commercial is for the Q5 Asian premiere at the Audi Grand Motor Show. The whole idea here, as you’ll see at the end of the video, is that the Q5 has “perfectly synchronized engineering.” Check it out: source:...

Drive the Audi Q5 on Five-City Audi Driving Experience

To celebrate the release of (and get the word out about) the all-new Audi Q5 crossover, Audi will be holding an Audi Driving Experience event in five cities across the United States. See the schedule below: April 3-5: Washington, DC – FedEx Field, Landover, MD April 17-19: New York – Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Long Island, NY April 24-26: Chicago – Soldier Field, Chicago, IL May 1-3: Miami – Gulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach, FL May 15-17: Los Angeles – Hollywood Park, Los Angeles, CA The event is free, of course, and consists of a three-hour program with a product presentation of the Q5 and hands-on driving experience in one of the 30 Q5s that will be at each location. It’s a really good idea to hold these events like this, and hopefully it will catch on for new model releases with other brands as well. It is a much more in-depth look at the crossover SUV than what you would get at the dealership, and without the sales pressure, allowing you to evaluate the Q5 and ask questions to product...

Audi Posts Record Profit in 2008, Warns of 2009

So despite nobody having any money and car sales mostly bottoming out, Audi somehow managed to have a great 2008, posting record sales of 1,003,469 cars, which is up 4.1% from 2007. Overall revenue soared to $43,681,970, up 1.7% from the year before. Operating profit increased by 2.5%, and return on investment increased 1.2% overall. This called for celebration – each and every Audi worker got a $6,775 bonus last year. So how did Audi Group manage to increase their numbers this much? They blame a good part of it on the new 2009 A4, which is rightfully selling like hotcakes right now. Additionally, the new Audi Q5 was the right car at the right time, and the updated A3 and A6 are doing quite well. And while other carmakers are canceling development on their new products, Audi is promising to bring 12 all-new models to the line-up in the next seven years, as well as invest in Clean Diesel technologies. But don’t get too excited yet. While 2008 was excellent for Audi, 2009 is starting off pretty bad. January and February 2009 sales are already down 20.3% from last year, and Audi doesn’t expect it to get much better this year. Hold on tight...

Audi TT RS Coming to the States After All

Despite Audi’s official statements suggesting that we won’t be getting this souped-up TT, insiders are saying otherwise. Audi will start sales of the TT RS in Europe this month, but will delay release in America until probably sometime this fall. The TT RS will be an Audi halo car, powered by a five-cylinder turbo engine producing 335 horsepower. The TT RS will also receive Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive, which will give it insane amounts of grip along with the extra power. Why Audi is saying the car won’t be released in the States is beyond me, but I can’t think of one good reason that it shouldn’t...
