Audi Enlists RS 5 Nameplate for 2013 DTM Car

Last year, the DTM Series premiered a trio of new vehicles constructed to a brand-new set of specifications. Designed to create better, more affordable competition in the popular German-based motorsport championship, the 2012 christening of the BMW M3, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and the Audi A5 DTM car was a mission accomplished with five drivers winning events during the 10-race regular series. The Audi A5 captured two of those wins in the 2012 DTM Series; both with Italian driver Edoardo Mortara at the wheel. Mortara victories were the only Audi triumphs at the end of race weekends in the 2012 DTM Series. Compared to the 2011 season where Audi vehicles claimed a driver’s and team championship, 2012 was probably not the year the German premium car brand was bracing for with the Audi A5 DTM. When it comes to current motorsport history, Audi’s attention on the top spot has propelled the Le Mans prototype sports car program and most recently the Audi R8 Grand Am to success after relatively short struggles. Audi Propels Past Five Million quattro Drive Vehicles

Audi Wins GT Class in 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona

If Audi has taught observers and fans one thing when comes to their approach in motorsports, know that the company is never keen about long waits for success. Last year, Audi made its debut in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series’ GT category with two customer-fielded R8 supercars. Recording an overall finishing position of 44th and 45th in the 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the debut of the Audi R8 Grand-Am race machine was nowhere near the competition level spectators were used to seeing from the German brand’s sports car effort. One year later, the Audi R8 Grand-Am brigade arrived at Daytona International Speedway with a decisively bolder ambition in 2013; capture GT class victory after 24 hours of racing. Firming up their 2013 auto racing plans in December, the month of January has been like a second Christmas for Audi fans. Autonomous Audi Can Now Legally Roam Nevada Roads
